What is a Pediatric Neurologist?
A Pediatric Neurologist specializes in disorders of the brain and nervous system in babies, children and teenagers. Common problems include headaches, epilepsy and seizures (including febrile seizures), tics and other movement disorders, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophies and other muscle disorders.
A pediatric neurology evaluation may also be indicated for children with developmental delays, autism, attention disorders, and sleep disorders.
Dr. Martyanov works with a comprehensive array of providers including pediatricians, child psychologists, psychiatrists, physiatrists (doctors who specialize in rehabilitation medicine), genetic counselors, dieticians, occupational, physical and speech therapists.
More about Dr. Martyanov
Dr. Martyanov moved to the U.P. in 2012 from Rochester, Minnesota, where she completed her training.
She received her degree in Medicine from Rosalind Franklin University of Health Sciences in Chicago, Illinois. She completed a Pediatrics residency at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She completed a Child Neurology residency and additional Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship with special training in pediatric epilepsy at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota (Ranked #1 in Neurology by US News and World Report, 2014).
Dr. Martyanov is board certified in Neurology with special qualification in Child Neurology. She is also board certified in Clinical Neurophysiology (EEG).
Dr. Martyanov lives on a 76-acre farm in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with her Russian husband and 6 children. She enjoys cross country skiing, biking, and crafting with her children.
