Inpatient Services

The inpatient dietitians at UP Health System - Marquette are responsible for helping our patients meet their nutritional needs and to also teach the importance of good nutrition for healing and long term health.

Working closely with each patients physician, the dietitian helps to determine the best diet for recovery. If a particular diet is to be followed after discharge, the inpatient dietitian meets with the patient and family members to provide teaching.

Inpatient Registered Dietitians

Ingrid Hoenke
Krystina Ostermeyer, RN, BSN, CDE

Krysti is a graduate of both Northern Michigan University and Excelsior College and has a Bachelor of Science – Nursing.  Her nursing experience spans from telemetry nursing to working in an allergy clinic, to most recently, working as a diabetes educator.  Although she has worked in a variety of settings during her nursing career, she has found her niche in diabetes education.  You can find her working mostly in the inpatient setting, although she does work with pediatrics as well as in our outpatient clinic.

 Bonnie Brewer
Bonnie Brewer, RD

Bonnie did her internship at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and has worked at UPHS-Marquette since 1992. She enjoys teaching people healthy eating habits and loves the diversity that her job provides her. She has two boys, Seth and Nathan and an English Setter named Lillie. She enjoys hiking in the woods with Lillie and going to her camp in Gwinn.

Candace Mattson, RD
Candace Mattson, RD, CSO

Candace is a born and raised Michigander. She received her B.S in Dietetics at Andrews University and completed her internship at Florida Hospital. Candace works primarily with Patients in the hospital but does only see Patients on an outpatient basis. She also works closely with Patients with Cancer is certified in Oncology Nutrition.

Mary Charlebois, RD

Mary Charlebois, RD

Mary graduated from Northern Michigan University and completed another year of training at a veterans facility in Missouri. She enjoys teaching patients about making healthy food choices for better management of diabetes and heart disease. Outside of work she loves to spend time with her family and friends.

Candace Mattson, RD
Monica Nelson, RD

Monica is a Northern Michigan University Graduate with BS in Clinical and Administrative Dietetics. She has certifications in both Intrinsic Coaching and Pediatric Weight Management. She completed her internship at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, MI where she started her career. She brings over 18 years of experience in helping educate people on the value of food and the importance of solid nutrition for all.  She has worked in a variety of settings, both inpatient and outpatient, rural and urban. She has most recently rejoined our team working primarily in the inpatient setting, and in both pediatric and adult weight management outpatient clinics
