As healthcare providers, patient wellbeing is our chief concern every day of the year. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, part of how we kept our community safe was limiting elective and non-urgent procedures at UP Health System-Marquette.
Currently, the threat of COVID-19 in our community seems to be under control, allowing our community to start re-opening and UP Health System-Marquette to begin gradually resuming time-sensitive non-urgent procedures.

Of course, it needs physical items such as personal protective equipment in the form of masks, shields and other items.

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - UP Health System-Marquette says the number of COVID-19 patients it's treating continues a steady decline as Gov. Gretchen Whitmer moves closer to announcing the next steps for re-engaging the Michigan economy.
UPHS CEO Gar Atchison says the highest number of coronavirus patients at Upper Michigan's largest hospital was four to six weeks ago.
"U.P. wide, the numbers remain really very low of patients that have needed hospitalization," said Atchison. "Just late last week, we were able to discharge another gentleman home, so it was quite a celebration here."

UP Health System hospitals have received full Chest Pain Center Accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC). UP Health System – Marquette, Bell, and Portage received the official designation on December 30, 2016. UP Health System – Marquette also received Primary PCI Accreditation in addition to Chest Pain Center Accreditation.

UP Health System – Marquette has completed installation of a new, $1.9 million catheterization laboratory (cath lab) made possible through an investment from Duke LifePoint Healthcare. At the heart of the lab is an Innova IGS 530 by GE Healthcare. This state-of-the-art technology for cardiovascular and interventional imaging will enable the hospital to perform cardiac catheterizations to quickly diagnose a number of heart conditions and immediately begin treatment. Along with the new equipment came a complete update of the room around it, including movable storage cabinets, piping, gas, HVAC, and an extensive remodel.

UP Health System – Marquette earned the recognition after successfully reducing the number of elective inductions and cesarean deliveries performed before 39 completed weeks of pregnancy to less than one percent (1%). This is a tremendous accomplishment, and one that will give more babies the right start in life, the March of Dimes says.
