Why did you choose MSU College of Human Medicine UP Campus?
I chose the UP campus because I was excited to experience what life and medicine are like in a different part of rural Michigan from where I grew up. I wanted to experience the different pace of life and natural beauty that makes the UP feel so wonderful while learning about medical science with tons of hands-on experience from those who are proud to call this natural paradise their home. I cannot wait to learn from those who allow me the honor to do so, and then hopefully take what I learn to care for those same people in my future career in the Upper Peninsula.

Why did you choose MSU College of Human Medicine UP Campus?
I chose the MSU CHM UP Campus because of my interest in rural medicine and the opportunity to have more hands-on learning. I was raised in the U.P. and have experienced the barriers to accessing quality healthcare in a rural area both directly and indirectly, and I hope that by being educated in how to care for patients in a rural setting, I can someday return to the U.P. and address some of those barriers and serve the community that helped shape me into the person I am today. I love the U.P. and Marquette, both its people and its natural beauty, and I’m excited at the prospect of learning medicine in such a wonderful place.

Hobbies/interests outside of school:
Baking; painting; reading; fishing; hiking; snowshoeing; camping; playing with my cats; and spending time with my fiancé, family, and friends

Hometown:

Why did you choose MSU College of Human Medicine UP Campus?
I chose to attend the UP campus because of the hands-on experience, rural patient population, and my love for the outdoors. The UP campus appeared to be the best training out there to fit my unique interests in medical education.

Why did you choose MSU College of Human Medicine UP Campus?
I chose MSU CHM’s UP campus because I was born and raised in Marquette. After living numerous places throughout the US and Canada during my hockey career, it is an amazing and unique opportunity to be able to return to my hometown to learn medicine and take part in the care of the community that helped me get to where I am today. I love this community and the natural beauty of the UP and enjoy spending time outside exploring and in Lake Superior when I am not studying. It is my dream, and would be an honor to get the opportunity to return to Marquette some day after my residency training.

Why did you choose MSU College of Human Medicine UP Campus?
The degrees of difference between the lives of everyday ordinary folk in the UP, rural Appalachia, and rural Africa are remarkably narrow; and when the opportunity arose to train in so clarified a program, I was not willing to pass it up.
