Being responsible for the care of children has a personal meaning for Scott.

“I love pediatrics and have a soft spot for special needs children and their caregivers as my daughter has a rare genetic disorder,” Shannon said. “My care philosophy is collaborative and I look to work with parents and other disciplines to best manage their medical concerns. I’m flexible and really honor a parent’s intuition.”

Scott is familiar with UPHS after having completed the majority of her clinical hours at UPHS Pediatric Specialists under the direction of Dr. Darr. She earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree from Northern Michigan University and received her undergraduate degree in Bachelor's of Science in Nursing at NMU. Scott also received her LPN Certification at Gogebic Community College. Shannon is also board certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Shannon is a Keweenaw native and enjoys spending her free time with her family and mountain biking. She is also an advocate for rare disease research.
