Nutrition Counseling

Marquette General has a group of Registered Dietitians to assist you in your nutrition planning needs. These personalized action plans are based an evaluation of your lifestyle, eating patterns, and calorie needs. Practical tips on dining out, eating on the run, grocery shopping and healthy cooking are emphasized. Diet plans specific to people living with diabetes and with cardiac risk factors are available.

Donna Marlor, RD, BSN, MA
Director of Weight Management


Specializing in weight management Ms. Marlor is certified as a specialist in Adult Weight Management by the American Dietetic Association. She is a Registered Dietitian, and completed an approved American Dietetic Association Internship Program at St.Paul-Ramsey Medical Center in 1981. She holds a B.S. in Foods & Nutrition, and B.S. in Nursing from Northern Michigan University, and a M.A. in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Ms. Marlor is a member of The American Dietetic Association, Sports and Cardiovascular Practice group and Weight Management Practice group.
Ms. Marlor has over 15 years of work experience related to chronic disease prevention and treatment. She has been employed in a variety of settings, including private industry, hospitals, long-term care facilities, community mental health agencies, and a community college. She maintains a private practice in sports nutrition and is a freelance endurance sports nutrition writer for Silent Sports magazine and The Master Skier.

Weight Management

Monica is a registered dietitian who provides group and individual nutrition counseling. She works with pre and post bariatric surgery patients, medical weight management clients, and a youth obesity initiative in the region. Monica is certified in Pediatric Weight Management.

Ms. Nelson has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in clinical and administrative dietetics from Northern Michigan (2000). Her internship was conducted at Hurley Medical Center, Flint, MI covering inpatient internal/general medicine, rehab, brain rehab and pediatric floors. She was employed at Hurley Medical Center as a registered dietitian for three years after her internship. She comes to MGH after 1½ years as the diabetes coordinator, registered dietitian, and school nutrition liaison for the Hannahville Indian Community, Wilson, MI.

   
Sarah Balko, RD, CDC Sarah Balko, RD, CDE
Supervisor, Diabetes Education
Specializing in Diabetes

Ms. Balko is certified as a diabetes educators by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators, and certified as a specialist in Adult Weight Management by the American Dietetic Association. She graduated from Northern Michigan University in 2000 with a degree in dietetics and went on to become a Registered Dietitian.

   
Jacque Nyenhuis, MS, RD Jacque Nyenhuis, MS, RD
Clinical Dietitian
Specializing in general dietetics and diabetes

Ms. Nyenhuis received her undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and an MS from Louisiana State University. She has taught nutrition at Louisiana State University and Sheridan College in Sheridan Wyoming. She wrote a nutrition college textbook for nursing students and is currently a Clinical Dietitian for MGHS. She covers individual consults and diabetes education in Escanaba.

   
Sherri Rule, RD Sherri Rule, RD
Clinical Dietitian
Specializing in general dietetics and pediatric weight management

Ms. Rule received her Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics from Northern Michigan University and completed an internship in dietetics at Harper Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She’s certified in Pediatric and Adolescent Weight Management through the American Dietetic Association. Sherri has extensive clinical experience working with youth and eating disorders and is a frequent lecturer in nutrition-related topics at professional and community events in the region.

   
Tracy Major, RD

Tracy Major, RD
Clinical Dietitian
Specializing in general dietetics

Tracy graduated from Abilene Christian University in Texas with a Bachelors degree in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics. She went on to do her internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. Previously, she worked as the patient service manager and sole clinical dietitian at the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center in Hilton Head, SC. Tracy is currently covering Pathways and works with various MGHS Specialty Clinics.
