At the Women's and Children's Center of Marquette General Hospital, we understand this. The Family Birthing Center serves the special needs and interests of new parents, in a warm caring environment. ________________________ Each
year, over 800 women choose ________________________ Our team of skilled and certified nurses and other health care professionals is experienced in providing you and your baby with superior medical care. With today's most advanced equipment and our Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, even high risk pregnancies can be handled with confidence. The Family Birthing Center is located on the 2nd floor of the RCN Building (Neldberg Building). The center includes 9 LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum) rooms which allows you to labor, deliver and recover in the comfort and security of a home-like setting. If unexpected complications arise, c-section suites are centrally located. Smaller, private rooms are available for moms who are recovering from c-sections or pregnancy related illnesses. Designated parking for obstetrical patients is available on the 3rd floor of the parking ramp. The center has a spacious waiting area for family members to feel comfortable. Our goal is to make the center fit the family, not the other way around. Family Birthing Center Visitor & Family Information The Family Birthing
Center has developed guidelines that encourage family and friends
to visit with you and your new baby, while maintaining the special
care you both need while you are with us. The staff reserves the
right to alter/restrict the visitation guidelines to protect your
care. Support Person Your husband, significant other, or support person can be with you during the birth of your baby and may visit at any time. Arrangements can be made, for other family members to be present during the birth of your baby. Talk with your physician in advance, and inform your nurse upon admission. Special arrangements need to be made in advance for a sibling to be present at delivery. Siblings Siblings are welcome to visit. However, another adult (not yourself) should be present for their supervision. If a sibling is sick or has a cold, it is best not to bring them into the hospital in order to protect your newborn (and others) from becoming ill. Family Members & Friends General visiting

If unexpected complications arise, time is crucial. Things can get critical so quickly that it's important to have the full complement of professionals available to stabilize the baby and mother. The MGH Family Birthing Center can help make parents and family members feel at ease in what can be a very serious, tense, and emotional time during a pregnancy.
