Where Can You Help?

The Volunteer Services Department offers a variety of services in which you can participate.

Volunteers - always caring , always sharing

Brookridge Heights (1901 Division):  
Visit with residents at our assisted living facility.
Clown'n Around Clowns:  
Donning a colorful clown costume and spreading cheer to patients.
Clerical Tasks:  
Assist staff in various departments with basic clerical work.
Dietary:  
Assists with menu pick-up; observes dietitian rounds.
Dog Therapy Partnership:  
You and your certified dog visit patients.
Emergency Department:  
Assists staff with non-nursing services such as patient transports, restocking supplies, and making beds.
Friendly Visitor:  
Offer a listening ear to patients in the hospital.
Fund-raising:  
Assist in organizing events to raise money for hospital patients.
Gift Shop:  
Sell gift items to hospital staff and visitors.
Heart Club:  
Visiting heart surgery patients prior to and after heart surgery.
Health Information Center:  
Provides information to the public on health issues and concerns.
Information Desk:  
Greet, direct, and escort patients and visitors to patient rooms and other areas of the hospital.
Lifeline:  
Install Lifeline units in subscribers' homes.
Logistics:  
Assists with transport of patients throughout the hospital.
Marquette General Foundation  
Partner with the Foundation team on numerous projects, events, tours and fundraising opportunities.
Medical Library:  
Assist the hospital librarian with a variety of clerical tasks.
Mail Services:  
Sort and deliver mail to hospital patients and personnel.
Operating Room:  
Second year premed college students assist in management of medical supplies and inventory.
Outpatient Surgery / Inpatient Units:

 

Assisting clinical care aides with non-nursing services such as delivering meal trays, answering call lights, and packing patient belongings.
Operating Room Waiting Lounge:

 

Provide information and comfort to family and friends of patients who are in surgery.
Plant / Flower Arrangements:  
Creative arranging of flowers and plants for sale in our Gift Shop.
Patient Tray Favors:

 

Assembling favors for patient trays once a month.
Pastoral Care:

 

Provide spiritual support and comfort to patients.
Sewing & Knitting Projects:  
Baby caps, gown pockets, heart pillows, newborn baby gowns, Christmas stockings, breast pillows.
Special Projects:  
Purchasing Christmas gifts for patients, assisting with holiday nut sale, tour guide, hospital United Way clerical work bee.
Wig Salon:  
Licensed cosmetologists consult with patients for cutting and styling of wigs.
