Medical Student Rural Site Opportunities
At the end of their third year of training, the students are required to complete an eight-week rural Family Medicine clerkship. These sites are at hospitals and clinics located throughout the Upper Peninsula and offer the students an opportunity to work closely with rural Family Medicine physicians.
This clerkship also requires the students to learn about their prospective community and present this information to the clerkship director and classmates at the end of this clerkship. This training opportunity is unique to our campus and is an enjoyable experience for our students, especially the ones that are interested in working at their future careers in a similar setting.
