Train in a pristine setting with clear skies and clean water. We are one of few rural programs in the nation with a 352-bed regional medical center staffed with world-class physicians. Marquette General receives patients from throughout Upper Michigan, and provides care in 54 specialties and subspecialties. You'll receive a well-rounded residency experience in a federally designated regional medical center with 11,000 annual inpatient discharges and more than 200,000 outpatient registrations a year. A diverse clinical practice serves 3,000 patient visits per month in a contemporary office setting. There are no other post-graduate medical programs in the Upper Peninsula. Our residents work directly with attending physicians in specialties like oncology, cardiology, rheumatology and many others. The family practice faculty are board certified in numerous specialties and carry an active patient caseload.
Marquette General Hospital's Centers of Excellence include the Upper Michigan Heart Institute, Upper Michigan Cancer Center, Upper Michigan Neuroscience Center, Upper Michigan Rehabilitation Center, Upper Michigan Behavioral Health Service, and the Women's & Children's Center. Marquette General Health System includes numerous primary and specialty care physician offices, home health services, and an assisted living facility. With comprehensive quality care, Marquette General ranks among the best in the Midwest.
The presence of the nation's only Olympic Education Center at neighboring Northern Michigan University strengthens the sports medicine curriculum and provides additional recreational resources for residents and their families. As a university community with health care as its primary industry, Marquette is a cosmopolitan small town offering the best of many worlds.
