Rural Physician Program Information
When applying to MSU-CHM, students have the option of also applying to the Rural Physician Program (RRP). This program allows the student to complete the 3rd and 4th years of clinical training at the Marquette campus. Students who are interested in an environment that encourages independent, small group, one on one learning will find the training available in the UP a good fit.
Once students have been accepted to MSU-CHM, we arrange to interview them for one of 10 slots available in the rural physician program. Students come to the Marquette campus for an interview and for an opportunity to see the campus and meet other students already participating in the program. Decisions for acceptance into the program are usually made by the end of April.
The UPHEC MSU-CHM / UP Campus staff maintains contact with the RRP students during their first two years at the central campus. The community assistant dean and community administrator are in Lansing for meetings 1-2 times a month and are willing to meet with students anytime we are in the area. We also get the entire group together for dinners twice a year to give updates on the program and provide a chance for students to come together.
