Upper Peninsula Telehealth Network

Mission, Vision, Values, Goals and Objectives

Our Mission is to improve access to health care, continuing education for health professionals, health education for the community, and to increase organizational efficiencies through telehealth technologies.

Our Vision is to fully incorporate telehealth technologies into the routine business and practices for the provision of health care in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and the surrounding region.

In order to accomplish our mission, we must strive to meet our Values of:

Competency: People are our most important asset and are the source of our strength. Having the right people doing the right things at the right time improves our reputation and vitality.

Service: Our work must be done with our customers in mind, wherever possible, exceeding their expectations.

Quality: To achieve customer satisfaction, the quality of our services must be a number one priority.

Privacy: Confidentiality and privacy of our clinical customers cannot be compromised as we provide the medium for clinical/medical encounters.

Community empowerment: Decisions regarding the design and use of telehealth technologies are most successful when based upon local culture and environment. Independence of each site will assure long-term sustainability of telehealth within the health care community.

Flexiblitiy: Telehealth is an emerging field for health care. Design, programming, and services must be entrepreneurial and innovative as we discover best practices for long-term success.

Practicality: Telehealth is most successful when it assimilates into routine health care business. In serving our customers, we place an emphasis on logical applications, availability, and ease of use.

Stewardship: Our responsibility is to prudently manage and utilize our resources to improve the health status of the communities we serve.

Teamwork: Our telehealth staff members are the key to the success in meeting our mission. We must earn each other’s trust and respect.

Our Goal for the telehealth network is to maximize the practical use of telehealth technologies within the business of providing health care to residents of the Upper Peninsula and the surrounding region.

Our Objectives for the telehealth network are:

Expand the programming and utilization of health education for professionals and residents within each UPTN community.

Maximize efficiencies of each UPTN site through the use of telehealth technologies for administrative purposes.

Increase the access to health care for residents of each community through the application of telehealth technologies and the formalization of the processes through which that happens.
