Faculty

Even though we often see patients in our shirt sleeves, there's nothing casual about our attitude toward quality medicine and a challenging curriculum. But when the work day is finished, we plunge into a variety of personal pastimes or into serious relaxation in one of the most beautiful natural areas left in the world!

Susan Tincknell, C-TAGME has been the coordinator of the Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program since 2000, and recently became Michigan’s first medical professional to be certified in graduate medical education training administration, with added qualifications in family medicine, by the National Board of Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education Programs (TAGME).

TAGME was created in 2003 to establish standards for the different medical professions, to acknowledge the expertise needed to successfully manage graduate medical education programs, and to recognize training program administrators who have achieved competence in all fields related to their profession.

Tincknell is a member of the Association of Family Medicine Administrators (AFMA), and previously completed their Residency Administrative Training Program. She has also been a presenter at both the Residency Program Solutions Conference and the National Center for the Evaluation of Family Medicine Residency Program Annual Conference.

Before Tincknell became TAGME certified, she helped develop the TAGME certification assessment for family medicine. A task force was created in 2007 by TAGME and AFMA after a survey indicated large interest in establishing a certification program for family medicine administrative professionals. Tincknell was responsible for writing assessment questions, piloting the exam and creating the Family Medicine Acronym Guide.

During development of the Assessment, the AFMA president-elect nominated Tincknell to the Board of Directors based on her involvement in the creation of the TAGME Assessment. She was elected to the Board of Directors and chairs the TAGME committee, which includes being a voting member on the National Board of Certification TAGME Board of Directors.
