Certified Therapists

Certified Massage Therapists (CMT’s) specialize in the use and application of therapeutic massage techniques. CMT’s are required to go through extensive professional training and follow a code of ethics. Massage therapists apply a variety of techniques to address your particular needs, and allow a sense of trust to develop between client and therapist.

Swedish Massage / Relaxation Massage
Therapeutic massage is the gentle manipulation of soft body tissue through rubbing or kneading to increase circulation and promote relaxation. Massage has been found to enhance general health and well-being.

Hot Stone Massage
Hot stone massage involves the application of water-heated basalt stones to key points on the body, creating sensations of comfort and warmth. The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of greater intensity than with regular massage.

Chair Massage
Worksite chair massage decreases job stress, relieves tension areas, and increases alertness. Chair massage focuses on common areas of tension - the back, neck, and shoulders. In a chair massage, the client is fully clothed.

Reiki Therapy
Reiki (pronounced “ray-key”) means “universal life force energy” and is a non-invasive touch therapy practiced throughout the world. Reiki is a centuries-old method of natural healing based on the application of energy using gentle hand placements. Reiki is used in hospitals, private practice, self care, and in conjunction with many other therapies.

Body Talk System
BodyTalk is a method of natural healing whereby gentle tapping motions are applied on the head and heart. Proponents believe it is a simple and safe therapy that allows the body’s energy systems to reconnect.

Many believe that reconnecting these lines of communication enables the body’s energy systems to function at optimal levels, thus preventing disease and accelerating the healing process.

Conditions Treated

Medical professionals are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of massage therapy. Health insurance companies are realizing the cost savings of massage and may cover sessions with a massage therapist when they are a prescribed aspect of treatment.

According to the American Massage Therapy Association, people with the following conditions have reported that massage therapy has reduced or relieved many of their symptoms:

Arthritis

Asthma

Carpal tunnel syndrome

Chronic/acute pain

Circulatory problems

Gastrointestinal disorders

Headache

Hypertension

Immune function disorders

Insomnia

Lymphedema

Myofascial pain

Sore muscle relief

Sports injuries

Stress

Swelling

Your Session

Before your session, the massage therapist will ask you about your medical history, any health problems or medications you are taking, and your needs and goals for the session.

The massage therapist will then leave the room so you may undress and make yourself comfortable on the massage table. Except for the area being massaged, you will be covered at all times.

Light oil recommended for sensitive skin will be used to avoid excessive friction to the skin. Tell you therapist if you do not want oil applied to your skin.

After your session, you may feel very relaxed or tired. Some people experience relief, have increased energy or awareness, and some feel hungry or dehydrated. Drinking water after a treatment will help flush waste products from your system that may have been released into the bloodstream during the session.
