Marquette General Hospital's Employee Assistance Program, including Managed Behavioral Health Care, is a comprehensive service offered to employers for their employees and family members that provides help for personal problems that may be affecting a person's job performance. The program is designed as a prevention program making possible early recognition and intervention in a broad range of human relation problems such as emotional illness, family and marital stress, financial difficulties, alcoholism and other drug dependencies and abuse.

Direct Services

CRISIS INTERVENTION:
Assist the client in placing problems into perspective and instilling positive feelings that problems can be managed. Crisis intervention is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

 

PROBLEM ASSESSMENT:
Clinical process is used to arrive at a definition of the problem and the development of a plan of action which will address the problem effectively.

 

PROBLEM RESOLUTION:
Eight sessions of pre-paid counseling are available to the employee. Referral to a pre-approved provider when a specialized service is needed.

 

CASE MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES:
Assistance with scheduling appointments with pre-approved provider.
Consultation with provider.
Follow-up with provider.
On-going collateral contacts as needed.


MANAGED CARE FOR MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE EMPLOYER BENEFITS:

Pre-certification, continued certification and case management for mental health and substance abuse services.
Establishment of a preferred provider network.
Use of nationally accepted criteria for placement decisions.
Independent routine audits and review of appealed cases.
Development of outcome measurements.


CRITICAL INCIDENT RESPONSE SERVICES PROVIDED BY E.A.P. COUNSELORS

 

Indirect Services -

 

Establish a E.A.P. Program Committee within each company or agency made up of both management and labor.

Consultation to E.A.P. Program Committee.

On-going management union training.

Assist E.A.P. Committee in employee education efforts.

Employee intervention consultation for employers who would like to intervene on employee performance issues.

Statistical reports provided to employer regarding outcome measurements.

Provide independent professional quality assurance review.

On-going program development and consultation within each company or agency.

Services provided to employees are completely confidential between the E.A.P. counselor and the client (unless client agrees, in writing, to release the information).

 

Appointments are scheduled directly with highly qualified E.A.P. counselors. Services will be provided at a location agreed upon by client and may include in-home counseling after the initial session. Counseling sessions can be arranged at all Marquette Medical Clinics. A "face-to-face" counseling session will be provided within 72 hours of first contact, unless the client and counselor have agreed to a later time.
