To help sort through the confusion, Marquette General Health System will sponsor the 2005 Women’s Health Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, at Marquette General Hospital’s Conference Center.

A diverse group of MGH and Northern Michigan University faculty members will speak on current issues and trends regarding risk reduction and treatment in women’s health. Topics scheduled for discussion include: heart health, hormonal changes, bone health, headaches, nutrition and aging, exercise, and how to put it all together.

Conference speakers include: Registered Nurse Ami Klein of Cardiovascular Associates; Nurse Practitioner Janet Graham of OB/GYN Associates of Marquette; Dr. Martha Short of Marquette Internal Medicine Associates; Dr. Naomi Arenson of Neurology Associates of Marquette; Registered Dietician and RN Donna Marlor of Marquette General Weight Management; Physical Therapist Cathy Ruprecht of Rehabilitation Services; and Nurse Practitioner Anna Sanford, who’s also an associate professor of nursing at NMU.

The conference is open to physicians, nurses, healthcare providers and women interested in personal health information. Interested participants must pre-register. A $20 registration fee includes continental breakfast, refreshments, lunch and handouts.

Younkers will also present a fashion show during the luncheon.

The Conference Center is located in the East Building off College Avenue. Conference attendees are asked to park in Parking Lot A, located at the corner of Hebard Court and College Avenue. They can then enter the hospital through the East Entrance canopy, take the elevator to the third floor, and exit to the right.

A special conference rate has been established for out-of-town guests at several Marquette hotels and motels.
