Wells named Assistant Program Director of Surgical Services at Marquette General

John Wells, RN, has been named Assistant Program Director of Surgical Services at Marquette General Hospital.

Wells has been employed at MGH for 32 years. In the beginning of his career, Wells was a blood bank donor services technician and an intern at UP Nuclear Medicine Associates. He has been the donor room supervisor and recruiter and also worked as a Nurse Tech Psych. Wells also held positions of OR circulating nurse, OR staff development coordinator and OR Team Manager.

Wells earned a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology and Biology at Northern Michigan University in 1975. In 1990, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from NMU.

Wells is president of the Association of OR Nurses for the Upper Peninsula. He received the Award of Merit for academic achievement and the Outstanding Graduate Award from the NMU School of Nursing.

Wells currently resides in Marquette, Mich., with his wife Janet, of 27 years. Their daughter, Gretchen Leigh Wells, is in her last year of M.B.A. School at Purdue University.
