Surgeon joins Marquette General
Marquette
General Health System is poised to launch its surgical weight
loss program with the arrival of Bariatric Surgeon Wayne English,
M.D. A seasoned weight loss surgeon with more than 1,000 bariatric
surgeries performed during his career, Dr. English was a partner
at the Florida Center for Surgical Weight Control in Ft. Lauderdale.

Dr. English is proficient in several methods of weight loss surgery,
including laparoscopic and open roux-en-Y gastric bypass and laparoscopic
adjustable gastric banding. Patients referred to Dr. English will
undergo a comprehensive pre-surgical evaluation, comprising a
review of their overall health status including extensive behavioral
and nutritional assessments. Some patients may require additional
clearances prior to surgery as needed.
Following their procedure, many patients throughout the region
will be able to use the telehealth (videoconference) network for
follow-up appointments with Dr. English and for attending patient
support groups.
Dr. English is listed as one of America’s Top Surgeons by
the Consumers’ Research Council of America. Board certified
in surgery, Dr. English completed his general surgery residency
at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital Center, a university hospital
affiliated with Columbia University College of Physicians and
Surgeons in New York City. He earned his medical degree from the
University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida.
Dr. English will begin seeing patients in early November. It is
recommended that patients see their primary care provider for
