Weight Management Department to host free lecture
Director of Weight Management will be the featured speaker
The Weight
Management Department at Marquette General Health System will
host a free community public lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept.
22, in Conference Room 1 in the Education Building.
Registered dietician Donna Marlor, who serves as the Director
of Weight Management at Marquette General, will be the featured
speaker. She will speak on “What's New in Appetite
Control?" During her presentation, Marlor will touch
on factors that regulate appetite, including specific foods, sleep
deprivation and exercise issues. She will also review the latest
medical trials with medications for weight control.
Marlor holds a bachelor’s degree in foods and nutrition
from Northern Michigan University and completed an internship
in dietetics at St. Paul-Ramsey Medical Center in Minnesota. She
has a Master of Arts degree in educational psychology from the
University of Minnesota-Duluth and a bachelor’s degree in
nursing from Northern Michigan University.
A number of display boards will be set up at the lecture, and
there will be raffles and give-away items for the public.
The MGH Conference Center can be accessed from the East Entrance
on College Avenue. Interested attendees can also park in the parking
ramp, take the third-floor Skywalk to the South Campus, and follow
the signs to the Conference Center.
