Marquette General Hospital Volunteers hosting auction to benefit the bloodmobile Monday, Nov. 5
The Marquette General Volunteers will host their Fourth Annual Themed Basket Auction on Monday, November 5, at 7 p.m., with proceeds to help support the new bloodmobile for the U.P. Regional Blood Center, based at Marquette General Hospital. Tickets cost $5.00, which can be purchased at the door.
A preview of the silent and live auction items begins at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Marquette, with the live auction beginning at 7:30. Refreshments will be provided.
A number of themed gift baskets, jewelry, handmade crafts and artwork will be available on bids.
Items include a collection of 10 Madame Alexander Dolls in original boxes with tags valued over $1,000, a unique hand carved wood deer head from piece of found wood, a cameo pin and matching earrings from Sorrento, Italy, and a sheared beaver teddy bear. There will also be voting for the best themed basket from MGHS departments/units.
Last year’s event raised more than $6,000 toward the purchase of a bloodmobile that helped the volunteers pay off the pledge of $100,000 for this vehicle. The 30-foot bloodmobile is used for blood drives throughout the Upper Peninsula, serving 11 community hospitals. The U.P. Regional Blood Center is based at Marquette General.
