United
Way and MGH to host Golf Outing and Kids’ Kicking Clinic
NFL place-kicker Jay Feely to host a kicking clinic as part of
the event
NFL place-kicker
Jay Feely of the New York Giants has again offered to help the
United Way with the 6th annual United Way-Marquette General Health
System Golf Benefit on July 6, 2006 at the Marquette Golf &
Country Club.
In addition to the golf benefit, which begins at 12:30, Jay Feely
and Marquette native Alex Tiseo will holda kicking clinic to teach
kids ages 10-18 the fundamentals of kicking.
The kicking clinic will be held from 8:30-11:00 a.m. at the Marquette
Golf & CountryClub. Feely will open with a motivational presentation,
covering topics like “overcoming adversity.” Following
the presentation, he and Tiseo will teach some basic skills needed
for kicking a football. Tiseo, a kicker for the Michigan Tech
Huskies, will assist Feely with the clinic. Participants are encouraged
to bring their own football, and have it autographed, if they
wish.
The cost of the clinic is $15 per child, and all of the clinic
proceeds will go to the United Way of Marquette County. The money
will then be distributed to local non-profit organizations in
Marquette County. Both Tiseo and Feely are volunteering their
time and talents for the clinic.
Registration forms may be obtained at the United Way office in
Lakeview Arena, or by calling
906-226-8171.
The NFL and the United Way share a strong partnership. Last year,
Feely was one of the NFL spokespersons for the United Way campaign
on national television. When he saw a flyer for the 2005 United
Way–MGH Golf Benefit, Feely called the United Way of Marquette
County office to find out how he could help support the United
Way. This year, he wanted to do something “hands-on”
with the children.
Feely will also playin the United Way-MGHS Golf Benefit, which
is the United Way’s largest annual fundraising event. Registration
forms are being accepted for teams of five people at $100 per
player. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with a shot-gun start
at 12:30 p.m. Both lunch and dinner are included with the registration.
There will be many unique and fun events on the course this year,
and fantastic give-away prizes.
The event will also have some signed NFL items for a silent auction,
and perhaps a chance to golf on Greywalls with Jay Feely. Guests
may come for the dinner, silent auction and awards presentations
for $20 per person.

Golf Benefit, call the United Way office at 906-226-8171. Registration
