MGHS Rehab Center welcomes new massage therapist
The
Upper Michigan
Rehabilitation Center, a service of Marquette
General Health System, welcomes a new
nationally certified therapeutic massage therapist to its highly
trained staff.
In addition to providing massage for the traditional relaxation and sore muscle
relief benefits, Erik Winkelmann specializes in massage for people who experience
carpal tunnel syndrome, migraine headaches and sciatica nerve syndrome.

Erik Winkelmann
A native of downstate Cadillac and resident of the Upper
Peninsula since 1992, Winkelmann brings to Marquette General
four years of therapeutic massage experience.
He is a graduate of the Institute of Natural Therapies massage school in
Hancock and is a professional member of the American Massage
Therapy Association.
Therapeutic massage is the gentle manipulation of soft body tissue through
rubbing or kneading to increase circulation and promote relaxation. Massage
has been found to enhance general health and well being.
Certified Massage Therapists (CMTs) specialize in the use and application
of therapeutic massage techniques. CMTs are required to go through extensive
professional
training and follow a code of ethics. Massage therapists apply a variety
of techniques to address particular needs.
MGHS massage therapists are available Monday through Friday by appointment.
A 30-minute session is $25; a 60-minute session is $40. Gift certificates
are available for sale at the Rehab Center or in the MGH Gift Shop.
To make an appointment, call 225-3186 or 1-800-562-9753, ext. 3186. Those
receiving a massage are asked to check in at the Upper Michigan Rehabilitation
Center
desk, located on the third floor of the Robert C. Neldberg Building on College
Avenue.
