General, National Multiple Sclerosis Society sponsoring MS Forum
Event scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1, at MGH
Marquette
General Health System and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society
will sponsor a Multiple Sclerosis Forum from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
on Saturday, Oct. 1, in the Conference Center at Marquette General
Hospital.

Dr.
Debra Morley
Keynote speaker Dr. Debra Morley, a neurologist on staff at Marquette
General, will discuss alternative medicine approaches to MS. The
forum is designed for patients and families living with MS.
The forum’s morning sessions will be available via teleconference
at three other Upper Peninsula locations: Dickinson County Healthcare
System in Iron Mountain, War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie,
and Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center in Laurium.
The mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is to end
the devastating effects of MS, a chronic, unpredictable neurological
disease that affects the central nervous system. According to
the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, approximately 400,000
Americans have MS, and every week about 200 people are diagnosed.
Worldwide, MS may affect 2.5 million individuals.
Dr. Morley is a member of Neurology
Associates of Marquette, located in the
Upper Michigan Neuroscience Center at Marquette General. Neurology
Associates provides services throughout the U.P.in Escanaba, Hancock,
Ironwood, Iron River, Ishpeming, Laurium, Manistique and Munising.
Dr. Morley earned her medical degree from the Indiana University
School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University
of Michigan. She also holds a PhD in human genetics. Dr. Morley
has treated MS patients for more than 15 years in the Upper Peninsula.
The registration cost for the program is $5. The registration
deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 27.
