Marquette General School
of Radiography and EMT School relocate to NMU campus
MGHS retains ownership of both schools
The Marquette
General Health System School
of Radiography and the School
of Emergency Medical Technology have relocated to rented space
in the University Center at Northern Michigan University.
Marquette General retains ownership and operation of both the
School of Radiography and the EMT School. Radiography students
have previously taken two of their academic courses at NMU while
completing their didactic and clinical practicum at Marquette
General. Using the same overall format with changes in the curriculum,
graduates will complete two semesters of general education courses
and receive an associate degree from NMU. Graduates from the program
will continue to receive a certificate of completion from Marquette
General to obtain licensure in radiologic technology from the
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
The School of Emergency Medical Technology provides several levels
of education for individuals training to become Emergency Medical
Technicians or Paramedics. Upon completion of the curriculum,
students test to become certified by the National Registry of
Emergency Medical Technicians. The School of Emergency Medical
Technology is continuing to pursue National Accreditation. The
School was recently recognized by the State of Michigan for having
the best first-time pass rate by their students on the National
Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification tests
of all 118 EMS education programs in the state.
The move of both the School of Radiography and the School of Emergency
Medical Technology has created needed space at Marquette General
for the new Surgical
Weight Loss offices of bariatric surgeon Dr.
Wayne English.
