Russin appointed Chief Medical
Officer at Marquette General
Marquette General Health System announces the
appointment of Dr. Stanley J. Russin, Jr. to the position of Chief
Medical Officer. Russin is the first Chief Medical Officer in
the history of Marquette General Hospital.
As a member of the Marquette General management team, Russin plays
a vital role in working with the medical staff in areas of strategic
planning; implementing best practice procedures and protocols;
recruitment; clinical systems evaluation and improvement; and
communication and cooperation.
Dr. Russin has a wide range of clinical and administrative experience,
and has established Chief Medical Officer programs in two other
specialty hospitals.
Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Russin will also provide
patient care in the hospital setting as a Hospitalist.
Marquette General Health System CEO Bill Nemacheck said, “We
are very pleased to have a physician with Dr. Russin’s administrative,
clinical, and teaching experience join our organization. As hospital
care continues to change with new technologies and techniques,
it’s essential to have a physician on our administrative
team as we tackle increasingly challenging issues such as the
phase-in of electronic medical records and implementation of new
programs and services.”
Tim Larson, Chair of the MGHS Board of Trustees, stated, “Dr.
Russin is the first Chief Medical Officer in the history of Marquette
General Health System. A hospital of our size and complexity needs
a physician as part of our management team. Dr. Russin has
served as Chief Medical Officer in institutions similar to ours.
With his solid record of leadership achievement, he’ll provide
unique insight and perspective.”
Russin is a veteran physician executive with 20 years of leadership
and clinical experience. He has served as chief medical officer
at hospitals in Maine and Pennsylvania, and has had numerous academic
faculty appointments at medical schools in the Northeast.
Russin completed his internal medicine residency at Hahnemann
University Hospital in Philadelphia, and earned his medical degree
from the Professional School of Hahnemann University.
Marquette General Chief of Staff Dr.
Kenneth Davenport said, “Marquette General has always
worked closely with the physicians on its medical staff. Having
a Chief Medical Officer as part of the hospital’s administration
will provide many opportunities to continue the growth, innovation,
and excellence that Marquette General is known for. The physicians
and the hospital have built an enviable medical community here,
and we all see tremendous opportunities for our patients in the
years to come.”
