Dr. Susan Ritter recognized as Marquette General Physician of the Year, Nurses Choice
Obstetrician-Gynecologist Susan Ritter, MD, has been selected as the recipient of the 2010 Marquette General Physician of the Year, The Nurses’ Choice award. The most important factor in the selection of the physician of the year is the relationship between the physicians and Hospital staff. Dr. Ritter has recently retired from her practice at OB/GYN Associates of Marquette, as well as from the medical staff of MGHS.

“Not only do her patients love her, but the staff also loves to work with her,” said Kristen Smith, RNC/CD, Clinical Manager of the Marquette General Family Birthing Center and Marquette General Neonatology. “She has a great bedside manner and spends a lot of time with her patients. You will often find her sitting down in a patient’s room explaining something or just chatting.”
Marquette General Health System President and CEO, A. Gary Muller, FACHE, said, “Dr. Ritter recently retired after 20 years of dedication to patients. Her contribution to the Health System and to her patients is consistent with our mission of providing the best health care to the residents of the Upper Peninsula and beyond.”
Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Ritter completed her residency at the University of Colorado. She earned her medical degree at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, and earned her nursing graduate degree at Columbia University Graduate School of Nursing.
