Marquette General Family Medicine Residency Program welcomes six new residents, including Iron Mountain, Gladstone, Bark River and Marquette natives.
The Marquette General Family Medicine Residency Program has selected six new residents for entry into the three-year residency program.
The program's purpose is to train physicians in the specialty of family medicine to eventually practice in a rural setting, such as the Upper Peninsula.
Each year, candidates are selected based on dedication to family medicine and primary care, the desire to treat a wide variety of patients, emphasis in promoting preventative care and a desire to practice rural medicine. Since its inception more than 28 years ago, the program has produced 135 graduates. Many continue to practice in the U.P.
