MGHS Family Practice Residency Program graduates three family
practice physicians

Marquette General Health System, in conjunction with Michigan
State University’s College of Human Medicine, held its 23rd annual Family
Practice Residency Program graduation on Friday, June 25, in the Conference
Center at Marquette General Hospital.
A reception followed at Steer & Stein Steakhouse. The program produced
three graduates, including one graduate who will practice in the Upper Peninsula.

The 2004 Class is a fantastic group of graduates," said Dr.

director of the residency program. "They are excellent family practice
physicians who will provide outstanding care to patients throughout their careers.”
The Family Practice Residency Program is the Upper Peninsula’s only post-graduate
medical education program that trains family physicians for practice in rural
areas.
Here is a capsule look at the three graduates:
· Dr. Anna K. Mitura-Lewandowski is a native of Poland. Dr. Mitura-Lewandowski
and her husband, Erik, will move to Iron Mountain where she will practice at
the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She earned her medical degree from the Akademia
Medqczna in Lublin, Poland.

· Dr. Mark A. Anderson, a native of Bradenton City, Fla., will move to
Lajes Field, Azores (1,000 miles off the coast of Portugal) with his wife, Elisa.
Dr. Anderson is a Captain in the United States Air Force and will be a flight
surgeon and family practice doctor for the 65th medical group. Dr. Anderson earned
his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean and holds a
bachelor’s degree in biology from Florida Southern College.

· Dr. Suzanne K. Harris, a native of Torrington, Wyo., plans to practice
medicine in Glasgow, Mont. Dr. Harris earned her medical degree from Ross University
and has a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from the University
of Wyoming. Dr. Harris and her husband, Michael, are the parents of one
child, Jacob.

The MGHS
Family Practice Residency Program began in 1979. The
program's purpose is to train family practice physicians to become
competent in practicing medicine in a rural setting, such as the
Upper Peninsula. The program has now produced 117 graduates, many
who continue to practice in the U.P.
