Teddy bears bring smiles to pediatric patients at MGH thanks to Marquette Rangers

Pediatric patients at Marquette General will have cuddly teddy bears to wrap their arms around and hug this holiday season, thanks to the efforts of the Marquette Rangers hockey team.

In a home game on Friday, December 5, the Marquette Rangers hosted a “Teddy Bear Toss” during an intermission to help supply various units — pediatrics, surgical, emergency department and EMS — that treat pediatric patients at Marquette General.

Fans tossed more than 375 bears onto the ice. In the photo, three Rangers’ team members — from left, Kevin Gibson, Kevin Kissaw and Mike Lennon — gather with staff at Marquette General to show a sampling of the Teddy Bears collected at the hockey game. Also pictured, far left, are Kristen Smith, clinical manager of the Family Birthing Center/Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and, far right, Scott Blixt, clinical director of Outpatient Surgery.
