Upper Peninsula Orthotic and Prosthetic welcomes a new prosthetist/orthotist/pedorthist
to its operation.

Jay Roy, board certified in all three disciplines, brings to
the program more than 15 years of orthotic and prosthetic experience.
He received orthotic and
prosthetic training at Northwestern University in Chicago.
An orthosis is any device used to strengthen, increase the function, or enhance
a body part. A prosthesis is an artificial replacement for a missing body part.
Peninsula Orthotics and Prosthetics, a service of Marquette General Health
System and Dickinson County Health System, offers a number of services, ranging
from tiny infants to adults. These include thorough orthotic and prosthetic
evaluations; custom and over-the-counter orthotic and prosthetic devices; sports
bracing; orthotic and prosthetic repairs; and foot orthotics.
Trained professionals work as a team with patients, their primary
care physicians and the rehabilitation team to ensure all devices
are designed to suit their lifestyle. Upper Peninsula Orthotic
and Prosthetic uses the latest in computer-aided technology to
customize products to meet patient needs.
Roy previously worked for 17 orthopaedic physicians at Orthopaedic Associates
of Grand Rapids, and at Leimkuehler, Inc., in Cleveland. Roy also managed orthotic
and prosthetic practices in Fountain Valley, Calif., Petoskey and Grand Rapids.
Roy, who has family in the Iron Mountain area, owns a bachelor's degree in
Fine Arts from the Cleveland Institute of the Art.
Upper Peninsula Orthotic and Prosthetic has offices in Marquette,
