Dr. Reese recognized as Marquette General Health System Physician of the Year, The Nurses Choice
Hospitalist Anna Reese has been selected as the recipient for the 2008 Physician of the Year, The Nurses Choice award. The most important factor in the selection of the recipient is the relationship between the physicians and the hospital staff.

Anna E. Reese, MD
“Dr. Reese is one of the most compassionate, supportive and honest physicians I’ve known,” said Roxanne Filizetti, RCN. “She always extends herself to her patients and co-workers.”
Marquette General CEO A. Gary Muller, FACHE, said, “Dr. Reese is very deserving of this award. Since her arrival in 2005, she has been exceedingly dedicated to MGHS patients. Her loyalty is consistent with our mission of providing the best health care to the residents of the Upper Peninsula and beyond.”
As a hospitalist, Dr. Reese coordinates and provides in-hospital care for patients at MGH. Even though a physician may also see their patients in the hospital, Dr. Reese can order medications and tests and follow the patient’s progress on a day-to-day basis. The hospitalist’s care can be especially helpful for patients who live outside of the Marquette county area.
“If I was her patient, I’d know I was in good hands and I’d trust my life to her,” said Catherine Burnet, RN.
Board Certified in family practice, Dr. Reese completed her residency at the Marquette General Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. She earned her medical degree from The Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden.
Previous recipients of the Physician of the Year, The Nurses’ Choice award are Nephrologist J. Marc Himes, MD; Emergency Medicine Physician James Addison, MD; Obstetrician-Gynecologist William Addison, MD; Infectious Disease Specialist John Wallace, MD; and Cardiovascular-thoracic surgeon James Klena, MD. The award has been presented annually since 2004.
