hosting Palliative Care Conference in September
Marquette
General Hospital will host a Palliative Care Conference on Friday,
Sept. 9.
The conference is designed primarily for physicians and nursing
staff who care for patients who choose palliative care. Other
healthcare professionals involved in palliative care for patients,
including social workers and hospice workers, will also benefit
from the program.
Dr. David Weissman, professor of internal medicine and Director
of the Medical College of Wisconsin Palliative Care Program, will
serve as guest speaker. As director of the National Internal Medicine
End-of-Life Residency Education Project, he’s currently
working to introduce end-of-life curriculum into 210 U.S. Internal
Medicine residency programs.
Dr. Randall
Card, associate director of the Family
Medicine Residency Program at Marquette General, and Dr.
Laurence Skendzel, medical director of Family
Care Doctors, are serving as conference co-directors and will
also present at the conference. In addition, Dr.
Michael Grossman, a private practice physician at Bell Medical
Center in Negaunee, will also speak.
The conference fee is $80, which includes refreshment breaks,
lunch and handouts. The cost for students and Marquette General
Hospital retirees is $40.

The Marquette General Conference Center is located in the East
Building. Attendees are asked to enter the hospital through the
East Entrance canopy and take the elevator to the third floor
and exit to the right. Parking is available in Lot A on College
Avenue.
