Ontonagon Community Health Center Formally Open September 4
Collaborative effort of Grand View Health System, Portage Health, and Marquette General

Grand View Health System, Portage Health, and Marquette General are teaming together to establish a community health center in Ontonagon.

The Gervae Clinic in Ontonagon will be purchased by the three Upper Michigan hospitals and renamed Ontonagon Community Health Center. Slated to open on September 4, the Ontonagon Community Health Center will provide primary medicine care services and visiting physician specialists to Ontonagon County. Laboratory, x-ray and other clinical services will be offered at the Health Center as well as to patients utilizing other health services in the Western U.P. and Marquette.

The center will remain open during this transition and Dr. Steven Gervae and Dr. Gerald Takala will continue to serve their patients along with a mid-level practitioner. It is anticipated that all current employees of the Gervae Clinic will be given the opportunity to work at the Health Center. Additional staff members will be announced in the coming months.

In making the announcement, the partners state, "We welcome the opportunity to better serve our patients in Ontonagon County. To date, all three partners in this consortium have been able to deliver quality health care services to this area of the Upper Peninsula. With the development of the Ontonagon Community Health Center, we are excited about this consortium going forward as a team to ensure the continuity of our local health care services to this special community."

Convenient clinic hours and same-day appointments will be offered. Patients can continue to make appointments and receive care at the Gervae Clinic by calling 884-2824.
