Jan. 3, 2006 First baby of the New Year at Marquette General receives gift basket To help celebrate the first baby of the New Year, the Family Birthing Center at Marquette General provided a gift basket to the family. The basket contained diapers, a time capsule, a book, socks, a gift certificate to Kohl’s department store, and a homemade quilt. In the above photo, Cindy Ampe, left, Nurse Manager of the Family Birthing Center, presents the basket to mother Christine Nardi of Marquette. Christine is holding Grace Michaela, who came into the world at 1:15 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Grace weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces. At right is Christine’s husband, Louie.
