MGH Family Practice Residency Program
welcomes six new residents, including Ishpeming native
The
Family Practice
Residency Program, a service of Marquette General
Health System, has selected six
new residents for entry into the three-year residency program.
The program's purpose is to train family practice physicians to become competent
in practicing medicine in a rural setting, such as the Upper Peninsula.
Each year, new residents are selected for admission into the program. Residents
are selected based on certain requirements, such as dedication to family practice
and primary care, the desire to treat a wide variety of patients, emphasis
in promoting preventative care and a desire to practice rural medicine.
Since its inception more than 25 years ago, the program has produced 117 graduates,
many whom continue to practice in the U.P.
The education and backgrounds of this year's incoming residents are highly
