Clinical Psychologist joins Marquette General Health System

Clinical Psychologist Dr. Dana Ransom has joined the medical staff of Marquette General Health System. She joins Marquette General Neuropyschology and Marquette General Behavioral Health.

Dr. Ransom comes to Marquette from Cleveland, Ohio, where she recently completed her fellowship in health psychology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Ransom specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of biopsychosocial factors associated with health conditions such as obesity and chronic pain. This involves working with patients on health behavior change and adjustments related to chronic health conditions.

She sees chronic pain patients at Marquette General Neuropyschology, and also sees bariatric patients on an outpatient basis at Marquette General Behavioral Health.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan, Dr. Ransom spent two years in Gambia, West Africa with the Peace Corps. While there, she assisted with the development of a national epidemiological database and conducted HIV/AIDS education seminars for teachers and other Peace Corps volunteers. Dr. Ransom completed her internship in health psychology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. She earned both her Ph.D in clinical psychology and her master’s degree from Ohio University.

Psychiatrist joins Marquette General Behavioral Health

Psychiatrist Dr. Terry Meden, who is native of Gwinn, has joined Marquette General Behavioral Health and the medical staff of Marquette General Health System. He joins Dr. Carol Cappuccio, Dr. Carol Gamber, Dr. Cameron Wilcox and Dr. Anthony Holzgang at Marquette General Behavioral Health.

Dr. Meden comes to Marquette from Kalamazoo, Mich., where he was a resident physician in psychiatry at the Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies. As a psychiatrist, Dr. Meden provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management and treatment services to reduce or alleviate the symptoms that mental health disorders present.

Board eligible in psychiatry, Dr. Meden completed his residency at the Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies and earned his medical degree at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and English, with a minor in mathematics, at Northern Michigan University. Prior to his medical studies, Dr. Meden worked for eight years as a computer specialist for various companies in Marquette.

Nephrologist joins U.P. Internal Medicine Associates

Nephrologist, Dr. Nabeel Aslam, has joined U.P. Internal Medicine Associates, a service of Marquette General Health System. He joins Dr. J Marc Himes and Dr. Jerold Napier at U.P. Internal Medicine Associates.

Dr. Aslam comes to Marquette from the University of Pittsburgh, where he was an assistant professor of medicine. While there, he worked as the medical director of the acute dialysis unit at Presbyterian University Hospital. He also served as director of renal transplant at the Veteran Affairs Pittsburgh Health System, where he also served as co-medical director of Dialysis Clinics, Inc. (DCI) Pittsburgh.

As a nephrologist, Dr. Aslam specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of problems related to kidney function abnormalities including chronic renal failure, acute renal failure, hypertension and various metabolic disorders. He will also oversee the care of patients receiving dialysis.

Board certified in nephrology and internal medicine, Dr. Aslam completed his fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh in nephrology and renal transplant. He received his residency training at the University of Connecticut in Farmington, Conn. He earned his medical degree at King Edward Medical College and his undergraduate degree at Government College, both located in Lahore, Pakistan.
