MGHS launches web portal
for people to ask dementia-related questions
Neurologist and memory grant coordinator to answer questions at
www.memorylosshelp.org
To help build on community awareness for dementia
and Alzheimer’s disease, Marquette General Health System
has launched a web portal to provide valuable links to local community
and knowledge-based memory loss resources.
A new component of the website (www.memorylosshelp.org)
includes an “Ask the Memory Professional A Question.”
By clicking on this link, interested people can submit questions
related to memory loss. Dr. Roman Politi, a neurologist on staff
at Marquette General and renowned expert on dementia, will answer
the questions, with help from Julie Kemp-Havican, Memory Grant
Project Coordinator at Marquette General.
The web site was created to assist families in Upper Michigan
who are victims of memory loss.
The Upper Michigan Memory Project is a federally funded outreach
program designed to improve medical access to care, and coordination
of care between medical providers and community resources for
patients with memory problems. MGHS, Grand View Health System
in Ironwood, Portage Health System in Hancock and Keweenaw Memorial
Medical Center in Laurium are using the federal grant dollars
to help promote community awareness of the symptoms of Alzheimer’s
disease in their own communities.
The resources provide free community memory screenings and ongoing
case management services for those with dementia and their primary
caregivers.
For more information about the Memory Project or the web site,
call Kemp-Havican at
906-225-3405 or 1-800-562-9753, ext. 3405.
