PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

NORTH McCLELLAN AVENUE STREET CLOSURE


On Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at 8:00 a.m. a construction project will begin that requires the closing of North McClellan Avenue to through traffic.Construction is scheduled to be completed by October 14, 2005.

During this project, portions of North McClellan Avenue from Ridge Street to Fair Avenue will be closed. People using the facilities at Marquette Senior High School, Northern Michigan University or The Upper Peninsula Medical Center should use the Washington St/Lincoln Ave/Fair Ave detour.

This project is phased so that local access to residences and businesses in the area are maintained to the maximum extent practical.The primary purpose for this project is to upgrade and replace the water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer utilities. This project will improve fire flows to the northwest portion of the City, improve water quality, and improve reliability of the sanitary sewer and storm sewer systems in this area.

Anyone with questions or concerns can call the City Engineering Department at 228-0440.
