Linda Winslow, staff development coordinator at Marquette General
Health System, has another accomplishment to add to her distinguished
career at Marquette General.

Linda Winslow
In January 2005, her first co-authored book, “Health Unit
Coordinator: 21st Century Professional,” was published by
Thomson Delmar Learning. The adventure began three years ago when
Delmar Publishing invited Winslow and two fellow colleagues to
write a textbook about health unit coordinating.
“At times I thought it would never get completed,”
Winslow said. “To be published is a feeling of personal
accomplishment.”
The comprehensive book describes the healthcare environment and
the role health unit coordinators play in such an environment.
It also has information on how to effectively transcribe physician
orders and coordinate non-clinical tasks. The book provides information
for students, as well as seasoned professionals.
Winslow collaborated with Donna J. Kuhns, a health unit coordinator
instructor at Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee, and Patricia Noonan
Rice, a former health unit coordinator and program and staff development
instructor at Rockford Health Systems and Rock Valley College
in Rockford, Ill.
“I’m thankful for the opportunity and the support
given to me by myfamily, friends and colleagues,” Winslow
said.
School programs as well as healthcare facilities have adopted
the textbook as a selected text and resource.
The book is available worldwide through Delmar Learning and other
book distributors.
