Marquette General physicians receive Leader Among Peers Award

Emergency Medicine Physician Dr. James Addison, of Marquette General Emergency Medicine, and Neurosurgeon Dr. Craig Coccia, of the Marquette General Brain and Spine Center, are the recipients of the Leader Among Peers Award given by the Marquette General Medical Group.

Dr. Addison and Dr. Coccia were presented the award by Dr. Frederick Hoenke, vice president and medical director of physician practices and regional operations for MGMG, at a recent annual provider retreat.

The award recognizes both for consistently demonstrating integrity, dedication, commitment, caring, optimism, steadfastness, adaptability, excellence in patient care, involvement, and a desire to continue life-long learning.    
 
“It was a privilege and an honor to present the Leader Among Peers Award to Dr. Addison and Dr. Coccia, who emulate the qualities of leadership every day,” said Dr. Hoenke.

Board Certified in internal medicine, Dr. Addison is a Michigan Tech University graduate. He earned his medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, and completed his internal medicine residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.

Board Certified in neurosurgery, Dr. Coccia earned his medical degree and undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. He completed his internship and residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He completed his fellowship in spine surgery at Alleghany General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
