Behavioral Health adds health psychologist
Gregory Jones, PhD, brings health psychology expertise to Marquette
Health Psychologist
Gregory Jones, PhD, has joined Upper
Michigan Behavioral Health and is on staff at Marquette General
Health System.

Gregory Jones, PhD
A health psychologist provides outpatient counseling for patients
who have various psychological issues related to diverse medical
conditions. At Marquette General, Dr. Jones will primarily treat
adults. He will provide all bariatric pre-surgical evaluations
in conjunction with Marquette
General Weight Management. He’ll lend his expertise
about the psychological ramifications of many chronic medical
conditions.
Dr. Jones comes to Marquette General from East Lansing where he
worked the past three-plus years as an assistant professor/health
psychologist in the Departments of Psychiatry and Family Practice
at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He
taught first- and second-year medical students, with an emphasis
on behavioral medicine and psychiatry. He also provided individual
and group supervision for psychiatry residents.
Prior to that position, Dr. Jones worked as a neuropsychologist/rehabilitation
psychologist and health psychologist at McLaren Regional Medical
Center in Flint. In that role, he provided psychological evaluation
for weight management patients to determine their suitability
for bariatric surgery. He also developed a health psychology pain
management program for chronic pain patients, and provided psychological
counseling for pulmonary rehabilitation patients and sleep/insomnia
patients.
Dr. Jones, who has more than 14 years of experience in psychology,
performed his post-doctoral fellowship in Health Psychology, Neuropsychology/Rehabilitation
Psychology and medical education at the Michigan State University
College of Human Medicine and Consortium for Advanced Psychology
Training in Flint.
He earned his doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology from Indiana
State University in Terre Haute, Ind.
Dr. Jones performed a clinical internship at the Western New York
Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Buffalo, specializing in Health
Psychology and Neuropsychology.
He holds a master’s degree in community counseling and bachelor’s
degree in human development and family studies from Texas Tech
University in Lubbock, Texas.
Dr. Jones has authored a number of research papers and has presented
at many conferences. He belongs to the American Psychological
Association and the Association of Medical School Psychologists.
Dr. Jones accepts referrals from primary care providers, physician
