Zack was seen for a sport’s physical by Dr. Koivunen who discovered a problem with his leg and referred him to his family physician for follow up. This problem was diagnosed as osteosarcoma and Zack was given three courses of chemotherapy to treat his cancer. He has been cancer free for one year and has been accepted at M.S.U. in the pre-med program. He will graduate from West Iron County High School in May of 2008. This type of program allows physicians to be leaders for students who are interested in the medical field and benefits both the student and the participating facility.
