To meet the growing needs of athletes, Marquette General Hospital’s Sports Health Injury Clinic has moved into a new clinic offering convenient, expanded hours.

The Injury Clinic offers comprehensive sports injury and sports rehab services for acute and post-concussion injuries; second opinions; fitness evaluation; evaluation and comprehensive rehab; custom orthotics/sports braces; timely consults; and custom exercise programs.

Dr. Lehtinen, head physician of the 1996 Summer Olympic Team and Chief Medical Officer of the U.S. Olympic Education Center, offers the program more than 20 years of expertise and hands-on experience treating a gamut of athletic injuries. He’s also board certified in family practice, geriatrics and addiction medicine.

At the Injury Clinic, a highly trained sports medicine staff —including Physician Assistant Michael Kreis and physical therapists and athletic trainers — complement Dr. Lehtinen. The cohesive, team approach and years of trained experience are reasons why the Marquette General Sports Health Injury Clinic is one of the leading programs in the Upper Peninsula.

“My goal is to work you back into ‘your game’ as quickly and safely as possible,” Dr. Lehtinen said. “My thought is that if you play hard, I’ll take care of the rest.”

Dr. Lehtinen treats a full spectrum of injuries, ranging from active women in mid-life highly prone to rotator cuff tears, to men suffering nagging injuries from biking, or playing basketball, baseball or hockey. He also receives referrals for second opinions from all across the Upper Peninsula.

Those who sustain injuries are encouraged to call 906-225-4850 or the 24-hour injury Hotline
at 1-800-200-TEAM.
