U.P. Regional Blood Center presents Everyday Hero Day
The Upper Peninsula Regional Blood Center at Marquette General Health System is sponsoring Everyday Hero Day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, June 30, at the Blood Center located at 437 W. College Avenue next to Marquette General Hospital.
“One pint of blood can save up to three lives, so without donors a lot of lives would be lost,” said Sallie Coron, coordinator of blood collections for the Regional Blood Center. “We want to recognize our donors by giving them this day because we consider our blood donors heroes, and they make our jobs a lot easier.”
Donors will be provided free subs, cole slaw, potato salad, ice cream sandwiches and refreshments. Donors will be eligible to win $25.00 gas cards, and the first 75 donors will receive a free patriotic T-shirt. The blood center will also be giving away $200 in summer prizes.
The Upper Peninsula Power Company, Q107 WMQT, Pepsi, SuperOne Foods, Econo Foods, Meister’s Showplace and Greenhouse, BP, Cenex, Freedom and Holiday Station in Marquette are sponsoring the event. Q107 WMQT will offer live remote coverage
from 12 – 6 p.m.
The U.P. Regional Blood Center at MGH provides blood products to 13 Upper Peninsula hospitals, including Marquette General.
