Regional
Blood Center holding Everyday Hero Day
Marquette
General Hospital wants your blood.
The Upper Peninsula
Regional Blood Center at Marquette General
Health System is sponsoring Everyday Hero Day from 8 a.m. to
6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, at the Blood Donor Center on College
Avenue next to Marquette General Hospital.
Sallie Coron, blood donor recruiter at the U.P. Regional Blood
Center, said she anticipates a successful Everyday Hero Day.
“
We encourage people who have never given blood to come out and
donate. It’s a very worthwhile event. Helping people is one
of the greatest gifts we have,” Coron said. “Area residents
have supported this cause in the past. We expect that to continue.”
There will be free refreshments and food provided to donors, who
will also be eligible to win prizes. The first 100 donors will
receive a free T-shirt.
WMQT, Q-107 FM of Ishpeming and the Upper Peninsula Power Company
(UPPCO) are major event sponsors. Q-107 FM will offer live remote
coverage from 12 to 6 p.m. Other sponsors include PepsiAmericas
and Econo Foods of Marquette.
The U.P. Regional Blood Center at MGH provides blood products to
12 Upper Peninsula hospitals, including Marquette General.
