Marquette General Heart Institute to hold “Women’s Heart Day” at Westwood Mall
Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of American women, so as part of American Heart Month, the Marquette General Heart Institute will hold a “Women’s Heart Day” free screening Friday, February 22, at the Westwood Mall in the Kohl’s corridor from noon – 3 p.m.
The screening for women will include a free cholesterol and blood pressure check. Participants will also receive a free “Action Card” for women, containing valuable heart disease information for women, signs, risk factors, goals for reducing risk and more.
The Marquette General Heart Institute encourages women (and men) to take action in reducing their risk of heart disease. Women may have symptoms that are more subtle than those of men. Some subtle symptoms of a heart attack in women include:
· Indigestion or gas-like pain or pressure
· Dizziness
· Unexplained weakness, fatigue
· Discomfort/pain between the shoulder blades
· Sense of impending doom
