Challenging Geriatric Behaviors
Conference scheduled for Nov. 9
MARQUETTE —
Marquette General Health System will sponsor the annual Gerontology
Conference from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9,
at Marquette General Hospital’s Conference Center.
This conference provides insight into the care of the geriatric
patient exhibiting common challenging behaviors such as physical
aggression, anxiety, refusal to eat, wandering, inappropriate
sexual behavior, hygiene needs, depression, and other behaviors
associated with dementia. The tips and techniques presented during
this lively and entertaining seminar are the proven, real life
solutions health care workers need in their daily practice with
the elderly. Learning will take place through presentation, case
studies, and hands on stations designed to help in understanding
why some geriatric patients respond as they do to environmental
and lifestyle changes. The day will be fun, fast paced, and full
of energy.
Conference speaker Amy Boulware, MSW is a geriatric expert, speaker
and author who serves as director of social services for a community-based
organization that services the elderly in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
A $90 registration fee includes continental breakfast, refreshments,
lunch and materials. Continuing education credit is available
for nurses, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, nursing
home administrators and social workers.
To register, call Trish in the MGHS Education Department at 225-3470
