Generations of Women’s Conference slated for Saturday, April 24
The Marquette General Women’s and Children’s Center is sponsoring a “Generations of Women” Conference on Saturday, April 24, from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Marquette General Hospital.
The conference is a free gathering designed by women for women - to encourage, enhance and support wellness. Participants will hear from local experts in women’s health while getting better acquainted with the MGH facility. The conference includes free continental breakfast, free buffet lunch, free tours, free chair massages, and entertainment and prizes.
The keynote speaker, Frida Waara, sponsored by the Marquette-Alger County Medical Society Alliance will present “It Takes a Team”. The conference will also consist of two Morning Tracks and your choice of a Breakout Session.
Morning Track 1 is suggested for women ages 44 and younger. Family Medicine Physician, Dr. Emily Godec, and Nurse Practitioner, Cindy Nelson, will address typical health concerns of women 20-44 years old; OB/GYN, Dr. Anna Griffith, will discuss strategies for a health pregnancy; and Parent Educator, Marissa Palomaki, will offer suggestions on how to feed your family healthy meals for less.
Morning Track 2 is suggested for women ages 45 and older. Nurse Practitioner, Janet Graham, will present on self care – head to toe; OB/GYN, Dr. Connie Hedmark, will offer options for preventing osteoporosis; OB/GYN, Dr. Breanna Pond, will present on making sense of hormone therapy; and Radiologists, Dr. Heidi Henry and Dr. Safaa El Naggar, will discuss current guidelines regarding breast screening and mammography.
There will also be four separate Breakout Session to choose from:
- “How to prevent Exercise Injuries in Women” with Sports Medicine Physician, Dr. Bryan Dixon.
- “Are you Eating to Live or Living To Eat?” with Registered Dietician, Sherri Rule; and Heidi Schneiderhan, LMSW.
- “Dealing with the Stress of Care Giving” with Behavioral Health Therapist, Mindy Miller.
- “Beauty Dos and Don’ts for Today’s Women” with Registered Nurse, Amy McInnis.
Optional tours will also be available in the cath lab, the weight loss center, radiation oncology, the breast mammography suite, and the family birthing center.
The conference is free of charge and pre-registration is required. Space is limited, so please register early.
