FamilyCare Doctors offers prenatal clinics at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital
Beginning January 2009, physicians from FamilyCare Doctors, a service of Marquette General Health System, will provide prenatal clinics twice a month at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital in Newberry.
MGHS prenatal clinics at HNJ will begin January 8, 2009, and will be held every two weeks on Thursdays thereafter.
The prenatal clinics will be facilitated by a faculty physician and a family medicine resident from FamilyCare Doctors.
At the prenatal clinics, women will continue to receive their prenatal labs and ultrasounds at HNJ without having to travel to Marquette General Hospital until their delivery. At MGH’s Family Birthing Center, women are provided a private birthing suite with the security of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit right down the hall.
For women with high-risk issues that may arise during their pregnancy, MGH prenatal care physicians will consult with OB/GYN Associates of Marquette, who will then see these patients in Escanaba or Marquette.
FamilyCare Doctors will be meeting with HNJ’s primary care providers to insure a smooth transfer of mom and baby care after their discharge from MGH. This will help prevent gaps in care and strengthen the communication between MGH and the local physicians in Newberry.
The prenatal clinic at HNJ will be held at the HNJ Specialty Clinic, located at 502 W. Harrie St., Newberry.
Similar prenatal clinics are being offered at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique.
