Sports Medicine Specialist joins Marquette General Sports Medicine
Sports Medicine Specialist Dr. J. Bryan Dixon has joined Marquette General Sports Medicine and the medical staff of Marquette General Health System. Dr. Dixon joins Dr. John Lehtinen at Marquette General Sports Medicine.
As a sports medicine specialist, Dr. Dixon works to prevent, diagnose and rehabilitate injuries in active people. His practice centers on non-operative orthopedics and the comprehensive medical care of athletes. Dr. Dixon has a special interest in shoulder injuries, tendon disorders and youth sports injuries including concussion. The concept of sports medicine centers on a team approach to fitness and wellness, helping the athlete in all of us recover from injury and illness. Sports medicine physicians use therapeutic exercise, medicines, state of the art imaging and appropriate surgical referrals to maximize function and minimize time lost from work or sport.
Dr. Dixon will see patients at Orthopaedic Surgery Associates of Marquette, P.C., in the Upper Peninsula Medical Center, where he will work closely with Drs. Robert Blotter, Matthew Colligan, Kenneth Davenport, Wallace Pearson, Clayton Peimer, Matthew Songer and Edward Southern. This relationship between Marquette General Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Associates of Marquette, P.C., will provide patients efficient consultation with a variety of specialists.
Board certified in sports medicine and family medicine, Dr. Dixon completed his family medicine residency at the Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program, where he was chief resident his final year. He earned his medical degree from Michigan State University – College of Human Medicine. He has completed a sports medicine fellowship at Notre Dame’s South Bend Sports Medicine Fellowship Training Program in South Bend, Indiana.
